1) Football player life:

Alfredo Di Stefano was born on July 4, 1926 in the city of Buenos Aires,

Argentina, in a family of Italian origin. He is the son of Alfredo Di Stéfano and Eulalia Laulhé Gilmont.


He began playing with the River Plate team from which he shot to fame.

He was loaned to Huracán the following season, but returned to River in 1947.

The latter is the year of his consecration: he reached the title of the

Argentine Championship, was the top scorer in it (with 27 goals) and called

up to be part of the national team. absolute national of Argentina that disputed

the South American Championship (Copa América) held in Ecuador.













In 1949 he left his native country to debut in the Colombian League attracted by

the high salaries offered by his clubs. He stayed for four years with Millonarios

de Bogotá and moved to Europe to play for Real Madrid.


With his new team he won the club's first five European Cups (1956-1960),

a competition in which he scored 49 goals, an Intercontinental Cup (1960),

eight Spanish League titles (1954, 1955, 1957, 1958 and 1961 -1964) and a

Spanish Cup (1962). He was the top scorer in the League five times (1954,

1956-1959) and, together with players of the stature of Gento and Puskas,

the Blonde Saeta (as he was known in the world of football), made Real Madrid

score an entire time of Spanish and European football.











Some time later, he signed for Español de Barcelona; After two years he worked as

a coach for the club in the Alicante city of Elche and went to Argentina to train Boca Juniors. In 1970 he returned to Spain, where he would train Valencia, with whom he won the Spanish League title after 24 years.


During his sports career he played for the national teams of Argentina and Spain (with which he scored 23 goals in 31 games), although he did not achieve relevant successes with any of them.













On August 26, 1963, he was kidnapped in Caracas by the Armed Forces of National Liberation. He was released very close to the Spanish Embassy in Venezuela.


On January 5, 1950, he married Sara Freitas. They were the parents of six children: Nanette Norma, Ignacio, Helena, Sofia, Alfredo and Silvana.


Alfredo Di Stefano, former player and honorary president of Real Madrid, died on July 7, 2014 at the Gregorio de Marañón hospital in Madrid, two days after suffering a cardiac arrest.

-The area of ​​Buenos Aires where he was born was traditionally a fan of the Boca
Juniors team so it is believed that he was a fan of this club before River Plate,
although it is true that he joined the latter at the age of 7 years.


-Di Stefano, as previously mentioned, played in three teams: the Argentine team,
the Colombian team and the Spanish team. Despite this, Saeta Rubia did not
manage to play in any World Cup throughout her career.


-Di Stefano was also an actor. He starred in three films. Among them,
'Eleven pairs of boots' which was the football movie in the 50's in Spain.
In addition, he made himself in 9 films. Two of the best known were:
"The Battle of Sunday" or "Alfredo Di Stefano, football and me".


-In the 60's it was common for the big football teams to dedicate their time
